Semtech is taking a major step forward by adding VoLTE (Voice over LTE) capabilities to its AirVantage Smart Connectivity Advanced solution, which is now available in the US and Europe. This expansion comes at a time when voice integration is becoming a critical feature for IoT applications in sectors such as healthcare, security, and smart city infrastructure, where reliable voice, SMS and data connections can make a real difference.
Market research by Transforma Insights shows a growing demand for voice-enabled IoT. By 2033, about 20% of IoT connections will likely require voice support—think of applications in smart wearables, child tracking devices, or even elevators and escalators, where voice communication can enhance safety and usability.

With VoLTE now offered through its Smart Connectivity Advanced solution in over 40 countries, Semtech aims to further expand its footprint in Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Smart Connectivity’s single global SIM technology simplifies complex IoT deployments by providing access to over 600 networks across 190+ countries. While it runs on 4G LTE, it also supports 2G/3G circuit-switched fallback (CSFB) in regions where these networks remain active.
