Nestled in Carrbridge, near Aviemore, Scotland, Landmark Forest Adventure Park is embracing Internet of Things (IoT) technology to refine its operations and deliver a more engaging visitor experience.

In a partnership with Glasgow-based IoT experts Censis, the park has embarked on a cutting-edge digital transformation. Across the site, sensors have been discreetly installed in key areas such as food and beverage zones and at the entry and exit points of its 23 attractions. These devices monitor visitor flow in real time, offering valuable data that fuels smarter, more efficient decision-making.

The insights gleaned are profound. From pinpointing peak hours at popular attractions to understanding how weather impacts operations, the system sheds light on visitor behavior like never before. This wealth of information will guide future investments, ensuring new features align perfectly with guest preferences.

Ross Coulter, Landmark’s general manager, described the impact:

“This technology is a game changer. We’ve relied on customer feedback for years to gauge visitor satisfaction, but we had no concrete data about which attractions were most popular.

“Now, by merging feedback with IoT data, we can zero in on developments that truly elevate the guest experience. It’s about crafting moments that stick in people’s minds, ensuring they return again and again to explore everything Landmark offers.”

A Storied Attraction with Modern Solutions

Since its opening in 1970, Landmark has delighted visitors with outdoor attractions like the Butterfly House and Wild Water Coasters. With its new IoT capabilities, the park is poised to build on its legacy by blending tradition with innovation.

This initiative is part of a broader program led by Censis, backed by the Scottish Government and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE). The goal? To help local organizations embrace IoT technology and unlock new possibilities.
